Seven young rowers from the Delta Deas Rowing Club had their own personal Olympics at the Canadian Henley last week. The Canadian Henley is North America's largest and most competitive regatta, attracting the best young rowers from all over the continent.
Joey Dart and Eric Jackson won the junior B mens double event handily, finishing more than a boat length ahead of their closest competitor.
The girls also did well, placing in almost all of their races, with a second place finish in the junior B women's double and the junior women's quad as well as third in the junior women's eight. Anna Ludes of Tsawassen rowed the gutsiest race of all, placing second in her single event just over an hour after racing in the women's quad.
The regatta capped off a season of good racing for the juniors. A number of the junior rowers are moving on to scholarships and the club is looking for more young people who are interested in the sport of rowing.
